tenterden station with pupils june 2006
As a part of an innovative historical experience for children in Kent and East Sussex. School groups descended on Tenterden Town Station on the Kent and East Sussex Railway in June 2006. This was part of a wider project linking schools and museum resources over broadband. The children were set a series of challenges as part of a historical investigation linked to National Curriculum studies. The traditional resources of the Colonel Stephens Museum, theatre in education and the railway itself were used alongside the new technologies of GIS mapping, digital video, video conferencing, voice over IP and online newspaper publishing. What follows represents a selection of the children?s reports resulting from their immersion in the events surrounding a late Victorian Railway.Individual newspaper pages may be downloaded here in pdf format.
