VC partnership with Texas schools

SEGfL schools now have the opportunity to have a VC partnership with schools in the education service centre of Abilene, Texas, USA.

Each school that wants to take part will be partnered up with similar age groups and their learning objectives.  The program is open to any primary and secondary schools within SEGfL. Ideally, the school should be registered on the JVCS booking service with a registered VC unit. There is an opportunity for schools without VC equipment to use JVCS desktop, a software videoconferencing option.

Classroom activities that you can get involved in:

  • Some of the schools in Abilene have entered a competition KC3- Kids Creating Community Content. They are looking for partner schools in the UK to practice with. Your class will learn some interesting facts about life in Texas and your class could in turn enter the contest. Second round entries to be in by February 6th. Full details can be found here: http://kc3.cilc.org
  • May 16th- There will be a national event in the US to debate the American Civil War of 1865. They are interested in any UK schools that would be interested in taking part.
  • Would your students like to discuss or act out children's stories or classic English literature with a class in Texas?

If you have your own ideas, please let us know.

Any schools interested in taking part in the partnership program can contact Heather Hadfield, at SEGfL by emailing heather.hadfield@segfl.org.uk
