Advanced Microsites2 - test site only

This site is supporting two projects that are using videoconferencing technology to support MFL links in both secondary and primary schools across East and West Kent. All links will have an MFL focus but will incorporate subjects such as business studies, science and transition.

"Kent Weather Watch 2008 is an exciting opportunity for children to use ICT in all subjects to gather, present and share information about the weather and their local climate with other schools in and outside the county."

The project is an opportunity for pupils to: use ICT to creatively share information about the weather in their local area with schools in and outside the United Kingdom compare and contrast the climate in different locations around the wor;d investigate how changes in the weather affect the everyday lives of all living things

“Knowing Me, Knowing You” is a wonderful opportunity for teachers and educational providers to use ICT to meet the learning and social needs of all pupils in the project. Given access to a wide range of resources pupils will have the opportunity to use technology to:

Learn about the culture, customs and traditions of pupils from different ethnic backgrounds

Create and publish their learning on the Internet for others to view

Talk “face to face” (via web conferencing) with pupils in other schools

Participate in “on-line” activities

Use “online” messaging and e-mail to forward information and comment on others work

The "Knowing Me, Knowing You" project is an opportunity for pupils in Kent to take part in a pan-South East project working with pupils from different ethnic backgrounds in and outside the U.K. Click here to visit the SEGfL Knowing Me, Knowing You project... During 2009 schools and local partnerships across the county will be organising "theme" days for pupils and schools. Ranging from "dances and music from different cultures" to "food" and "traditional tales" visit the site regularly over the coming months for details about what is happening in your local area.

The Scarecrow rides again (The Dr Syn Mystery)
A writing project to support Year 5 Writers
You are going to collect information for your graphic novel....... you will meet the feared Romney Marsh smuggler known as ‘the Scarecrow’
“Your task is to gather evidence about smuggling, the Scarecrow and the Sandgate haul – and use it to create a graphic novel. During the day, you will work in small groups. You will be set challenges and take part in activities that give you an insight into a grizzly historical mystery. Back in school you will use ICT to continue your research and publish a historical graphic novel about the gory incident involving Dr Syn and his smuggler crew!”
