Get a Second Life!

Second Life - Ahoy S Parker
This year SEGfL is working in partnership with the Open University to investigate the potential for online collaborative learning. In Second Life users create avatars, virtual representations of themselves that interact in real-time within a three-dimensional virtual world. Using Schome Park, an existing island on the teen grid, 13-17 year old students from a number of settings around the SEGfL region are already in-world learning together.

A scavenger hunt to introduce ?newbies? to Schome Park has already been developed. Some students are actively building objects and scripting them to do ?stuff? - others are involved filming activity in-world and adding voice-over narration ? this ?Machinima video? production is already proving very popular. What about the longer term? Experience has shown that in the absence of teacher directed learning, students themselves have very clear notions of a way forward.

This project is actively recruiting more students from schools and other educational institutions - if you wish to become involved contact Chris Pim Click here to visit the Schome Park website
