Open but Secure Networking

Open Secure Network

An Outline for Headteachers and Policy Makers
Schools need the best of conflicting worlds. Learners need easy access to content on the network and Internet from both home and school. School ICT managers have to juggle an increasing array of types of user and sources of content and school managers must be satisfied that the security of student and staff personal data is robust and the network itself is protected. Content providers also need to be certain of users? rights to access their resources. Satisfying each of these requirements will involve changes in ICT systems at all levels.
This Kent LA document outlines the issues for headteachers and educational policy makers.
