World War II Activity Day at Sholden Primary School

Kent WWII Activity Day
What was it like for children growing up in Britain during World War II?

The staff at Sholden Primary School, Kent were supported on the day by the ASK History Advisor, HOS ICT Primary Consultant and staff from the South-East Grid for Learning.
During the morning the children used artefacts including ration books, diary extracts, gas masks, everyday clothes and uniforms loaned by the Museum of Canterbury to find out about:
  • The clothing adults and children wore during World War II
  • Food Rationing
  • What happened during an Air Raid attack?

The children watched a selection of Pathe News video clips and then used editing software to add their own sound commentaries. They also wrote their own news reports about an Air Raid attack and published these on 'Making the News'.
